NEW DELHI: HS Sohal has been appointed as the new chief vigilance officer (CVO) of the government-controlled Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
The incumbent BSNL CVO Deepak Kashyap, who was appointed in April 2016, will work with another state agency Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), according to the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
Sohal is an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of the 1987-batch Arunachal Pradesh, Goa and Mizoram Union Territories (AGMUT)-cadre. He was working on a deputation as CVO with the Engineers India Limited under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
He has a masters’ degree in Botany with a gold medal from the Lucknow University, BSNL in a statement Monday said.
Sohal is also a visiting lecturer at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.
