NEW DELHI: Homegrown mobile handset company Lava showed a 100% growth in the feature phone market with its market share rising from 6% to 13% in the Q1 2019, according to the Counterpoint Research.
In the 2G feature phone segment Lava came a close second to Samsung with a difference of only 2% in the market share, the Delhi-based firm in a statement Tuesday said.
India’s feature phone market currently stands at 400 million users, the finding said.
Separately, Lava has also reported as the top feature phone brand in India by the CyberMedia Research (CMR) in February this year.
“We have always maintained an extremely strong position in the feature phone segment. It is our focus, commitment to empowering Indian customers and most importantly perseverance which has helped us to achieve this,” Sunil Raina, President and Business Head, Lava International Limited said.
Over the years, the company, according to Raina, has been building capabilities within India in product design and manufacturing in order to make valuable technologies accessible and provide reliable products to our customers.
