NEW DELHI: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) president Amit Shah Thursday tweeted a thank you to the Indian citizens, following the party’s stellar performance in Lok Sabha 2019, winning a majority of seats.
“Phir ek baar Modi Sarkar” (Once again, Modi government),” Shah tweeted in the Hindi language, and added, “I convey my heartfelt greetings to Modiji on behalf of BJP workers.”
“This is a victory of the entire nation. A victory of hopes of the youth, poor and farmers. This grand success is a victory of people’s confidence in Prime Minister Modi’s five-year of development and strong leadership,” he said in another tweet.
BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has been leading in 350 constituencies of the total 542, and have won 20 seats, till 5:00 pm on Thursday as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) data.
Meanwhile, Congress president Rahul Gandhi conceded defeat and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for victory at a press meet in the evening.
The voting for the seven-phase general election ended on May 19, and counting began at 8:00 pm on Thursday with the main contest between the ruling BJP and Congress-led Opposition.
