NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday released the consultation paper on ‘Issues related to Interconnection Regulation 2017’, following the representations from a few regional broadcasters.
The local broadcasters have raised their concerns regarding the declaration of the target market by distributors of television channels.
The broadcasting regulator has said that the objective of the consultation process was to review the provisions of the existing Interconnection Regulation 2017 and consult all the stakeholders on the following issues related to target market and those related to placement and other agreements between broadcasters and distributors.
The consultation paper further highlights that the placement agreement, marketing agreements or any other technical and commercial arrangements between broadcasters and distributors.
Trai, however, wanted to bring transparency, with empowerment to consumers, as a part of its new tariff order (NTO) implemented recently.
