NEW DELHI: TruJet, a Hyderabad-based airline Friday started daily flight operations from Belagavi to Tirupati, Mysuru and Hyderabad route under the government’s RCS-UDAN.
Launched in April 2017, UDAN-RCS or UDAN is a regional airport development and regional connectivity scheme” of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.
Last year, TruJet has been awarded the Belagavi-Tirupati-Belagavi-Mysuru-Belagavi-Hyderabad-Belagavi routes under the bidding process.
“The airline will be operating daily flights from Belagavi airport to Tirupati, Mysuru, and Hyderabad respectively,” the company in a statement said.
Started in 2014, TruJet has been established as a low-cost carrier providing connectivity between Tier-2 cities using ATR 72 aircraft.
TruJet will operate six flights every day and will deploy ATR 72 (500), 72 seater luxury aircraft on this route, it said.
The airline currently operates 32 flights under RCS-UDAN, with the addition of Tirupati-Mysuru-Hyderabad there will be 38 flights under the umbrella of TruJet.
Due to the non-availability of direct flights from Belagavi to Tirupati, Mysuru, and Hyderabad, the company said that people had to travel long-hour journey to these destinations.
