NEW DELHI: The United Kingdom (UK) has finally inked a Brexit pact with the European Union (EU) Thursday. The development, however, would need British parliament nod to finally seal the deal.
“Where there is a will there is a deal – we have one!” European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker tweeted ahead of an EU summit in Brussels.
“Now is the moment for us to get Brexit done and then together to work on building our future partnership, which I think can be incredibly positive both for the UK and for the EU,” the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.
Johnson praised Juncker and the EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, following their efforts to get the Brexit deal through.
Meanwhile, the Opposition, as well as the members of his own Conservative Party had accused Johnson of trying to escape scrutiny ahead of the October 31 Brexit deadline.
In June 2016, 52% voted the United Kingdom (UK) to quit the European Union (EU). The UK and the EU agreed to a deal in November 2018 but Parliamentarians rejected it.
