India reports lowest new Coronavirus-related cases in nearly 9 months, says health ministry

NEW DELHI: India reported a single-day rise of 10,853 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 3,43,55,536. This has been the lowest single-day rise in new COVID-19 cases in nearly 9 months.

The active cases in the country stand at 1,44,845 while the death toll has risen to 4,60,791 with 526 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry data. 

A total of 3,37,49,900 people have recovered from deadly virus in the country. The daily rise in new coronavirus cases has been below 20,000 for the last one month and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 133 consecutive days now, the health ministry said. 

The total vaccinations administered in the country stand at 1,08,21,66,365. 

Pertinent to mention the global coronavirus caseload has crossed 249.5 million mark, with the death toll surging to more than 5.04 million and vaccinations soared to over 7.22 billion, according to Johns Hopkins University.
