IDEMIA launches modern card issuance APIs
NEW DELHI: IDEMIA Secure Transactions (IST), a global provider of payment, connectivity and cybersecurity solutions, has launched a new suite of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) aimed at modernising payment card issuance and helping banks, fintechs, aggregators and issuing partners accelerate the rollout of physical and digital payment services.
The new API suite is structured into five core service families covering the entire payment card lifecycle—from issuance and personalization to authentication, customer experience and payment cryptography. The solution is designed to simplify integration, enable real-time issuance and improve operational efficiency for financial institutions.
According to the company, the APIs support the growing demand for instant, seamless and connected payment experiences. Consumers increasingly expect faster card delivery, personalized designs, instant activation, digital card issuance, push provisioning to mobile wallets and secure, frictionless transactions through banking applications.
For issuers, the platform provides modern infrastructure to manage real-time card production, inventory, tracking and digital provisioning while reducing reliance on multiple third-party integrations through standardized API architecture.
Building on its Personalization-as-a-Service platform introduced in March 2025, IST said the new APIs transform card personalization into a connected digital service that enables real-time monitoring of every stage of the issuance process, from order placement to delivery.
"The shift to API-based personalization is about unlocking new value potential for our customers. Issuers don't just become more efficient; they become more agile, more responsive and better equipped to deliver the personalized experiences customers now expect," said Elyette Roux, Executive Vice President, Payment Services, IDEMIA Secure Transactions.
The five API families include Issuance APIs for card creation, personalization and delivery; Lifecycle APIs for renewals, replacements and token management; Authentication APIs based on FIDO standards; Customer Experience APIs and Mobile SDKs for features such as digital card activation, wallet provisioning and tap-to-pay; and Payment Cryptography & Key Management APIs for secure encryption, key management and quantum-ready cryptographic services.
The APIs are designed to integrate seamlessly with banks' card management systems, authorization servers and mobile banking applications, enabling institutions to deploy innovative payment services more quickly while reducing operational complexity.
IDEMIA Secure Transactions said it issued more than 700 million physical payment products in 2025 and has provisioned over 500 million payment tokens globally. Built on PCI-certified SaaS platforms, the company's API-driven approach enables issuers to adopt modular payment services based on their specific business requirements.
