XTEND, Rayonix ink $11 million deal to localise AI-powered UAV manufacturing in India
NEW DELHI: XTEND has signed a $11 million manufacturing and distribution agreement with Rayonix Tech Private Limited to expand its XOS autonomy platform into India, marking a significant push toward indigenous defence production.
Under the agreement, Rayonix will serve as the exclusive manufacturing and distribution partner for selected XTEND platforms in India. The deal includes plans to establish localised manufacturing, testing, and distribution infrastructure for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems powered by XTEND’s proprietary XOS operating system.
The $11 million commitment, however, is contingent on meeting commercial performance milestones and regulatory approvals, highlighting a phased rollout strategy.
Boost to ‘Make in India’ defence push
The partnership aligns with India’s growing focus on sovereign defence manufacturing and AI-driven military capabilities. The collaboration will also include technology transfer and operational enablement, allowing local production of advanced UAV systems.
XTEND’s XOS platform will act as the software backbone for these systems, enabling AI-powered navigation, mission planning, and real-time operational control across multi-domain robotic platforms.
Strategic significance
Industry experts view the deal as part of a broader trend of global defence-tech firms partnering with Indian companies to tap into one of the fastest-growing defence markets. The move is expected to strengthen domestic capabilities while reducing reliance on imports.
The agreement also reinforces XTEND’s strategy of building regional manufacturing ecosystems while maintaining a unified, software-driven autonomy architecture for its platforms.
