Russia set to launch vaccine for COVID19 tomorrow

NEW DELHI: In a move that can prove to be a major breakthrough in medical science, Russia is all set to launch the vaccine for dreaded coronavirus tomorrow.

As per reports, six candidates from around the world are now in phase three of human trials. Russia has claimed that one of their candidates has completed all three phases of human clinical trials successfully and is ready to be inspected to humans for treatment of COVID19.

As per a TASS news agency report, clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology have been completed and paperwork is underway for the vaccine’s registration.

The report suggested that Russia will manufacture several million doses of coronavirus vaccines per month by the beginning of next year. Overall production will depend, first and foremost, on the needs of the healthcare system. Serial production of the first domestic vaccine developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology is expected to begin in September, the report added.

Another vaccine developed by Russia’s Vektor State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology is also in the race for getting approved. It’s Director-General Rinat Maksyutov told a Russian News Channel that the Center plans to launch production of the novel coronavirus vaccine in November.

Meanwhile, Brazil, India and a number of other countries are discussing with Russia production the Russian vaccine against the new coronavirus infection on their territory.

Pertinent to mention the number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide crossed 20 million mark with 735000 deaths while the number of cases in India stand at 2.27 million with 45257 deaths.
