HFCL signs $1.1 billion long-term optical fibre cable supply deal with global multinational

NEW DELHI: HFCL Limited on Monday announced that it has entered into a long-term supply agreement with a global multinational corporation for the supply of high-quality, high-fibre-count Optical Fiber Cables (OFC) through its overseas wholly owned subsidiary.

The agreement has an estimated potential value of around USD 1.10 billion (approximately ?10,159 crore) and will be executed over a multi-year period extending until December 2030. Under the arrangement, HFCL will supply multi-million fibre kilometre volumes annually, with purchase orders expected to be released periodically depending on project requirements and technical specifications.

According to the company, the deal represents a major milestone in HFCL’s global business expansion, as it is the first long-term, multi-year OFC supply contract of this scale in the company’s history. The agreement underscores the growing international demand for advanced fibre infrastructure as telecom operators and technology companies accelerate the rollout of high-speed broadband networks, 5G infrastructure and data connectivity solutions.

HFCL said the partnership will enable it to strengthen its position in the global optical fibre market while expanding its international customer base. The company is expected to leverage its advanced manufacturing capabilities and global supply chain to deliver high-fibre-count optical cables that support next-generation communication networks.

Industry experts note that demand for optical fibre cables has been rising rapidly worldwide due to expanding fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks, large-scale 5G deployments, hyperscale data centre expansion and government-backed digital infrastructure initiatives.

With the new agreement, HFCL aims to secure stable long-term revenue visibility and strengthen its export portfolio, while further enhancing its reputation as a global supplier of telecom infrastructure products.

The company added that orders under the agreement will be released in phases based on project progress and network rollout schedules, allowing HFCL to scale production and supply in line with global demand trends.
