NIXI hosted webinar on role of country code top-Level domains in achieving universal acceptance

NEW DELHI: National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) organized a webinar on “The Role of Country Code Top-Level Domains (ccTLDs) in Achieving Universal Acceptance”.
Anil Kumar Jain, CEO of NIXI launched the Webinar by thanking the participants and the panelist. He also emphasized the need for Universal acceptance and NIXI’s key role in achieving it.
NIXI initiated Universal Acceptance (UA) for .in registry, the registry allows all domain operations using an IDN in U-label form since March 2019. The registry has both ASCII and U Label for IDNs in lookups to confirm that translation between two forms is providing to the Registrar so that there is clarity as to what the DNS record would appear like a Registered IDN.
Sarmad Hussain, Sr. Director IDN & UA Programs, ICANN was the key speaker in the webinar. He explained the role of the ccTLD manager and public sector during his presentation. Mr. Hussain also discussed the internet reach in achieving local language and the integration of Email Address Internationalization (EAI).
There were more than a hundred participants who attended the webinar, and some participants were from other countries as well.
Dr. Ajay Data, Chair of Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) was also part of the panellist group. He gave his insights regarding the importance of the UA in internet space and also addressed the questions asked by some of the participants.
National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), GOI, and Indian Community has initiated to promote UA adoption, and support in various sectors like - Web Designers, Email Providers, Mobile Apps Developers, Content Generators and provide training through workshop and awareness campaign.
