TCIL co-develops anti-spam platform for telcos
NEW DELHI: India’s public sector company Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) has co-developed an indigenous spam protection solution for service providers and is expecting to take it to the market, according to a media report.
TCIL has developed SMS solution in collaboration with an indigenous technology partner. We are in discussions with incumbent telecom operators including public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman-and-Managing Director, TCIL was quoted as saying.
Homegrown firms including state-driven companies are finding it difficult to get market access locally including in already-consolidated telecom market with three private sector incumbents – Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea.
TCIL is a public-owned master system integrator that has also submitted its competitive bid for BharatNet – III program.
The anti-spam platform, according to the top official, can be commercially deployed immediately, and said that telecom operators could be benefitted as it offers full control to them for SMS monitoring including a dashboard to the regulator.
Telecom companies as well as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and the Department of Telecommunications are struggling to curb the pesky calling and messaging menace.
Last month, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea together disconnected nearly 3 lakh mobile connections, and blacklisted about 50 third-party entities.
The development comes at a time when sector regulator recived nearly 8 lakh consumer complaints against unregistered telemarketers.
TCIL official further told the publication that the domestically designed and developed solution uses blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and sends out only verified message content and effectively prevents unsolicited commercial communication by blocking fraudulent urls.
The public sector telecom system integrator conducted a proof-of-concept on MTNL network.
