Allana Group, Captain Fresh to open 4,000 retail stores in India

NEW DELHI: Allana Group and Captain Fresh have partnered to launch a large-scale retail expansion, aiming to open around 4,000 stores across India over the next four years.

The two companies have formed a joint venture, Indian Retail Alliance Private Limited (IRAPL), with Allana Group holding a 51% stake and Captain Fresh owning 49%. The initiative seeks to build a pan-India network focused on fresh protein retail, including seafood, chicken, and mutton.

The retail platform will operate through a mix of standalone outlets, shop-in-shop formats, and HoReCa (hotel, restaurant, and catering) channels, aiming to create a unified and organised supply chain in India’s largely fragmented protein market.

Captain Fresh will contribute its seafood sourcing expertise and omni-channel technology stack through its retail brand ‘ChopServe’, while Allana Group will bring its established infrastructure and experience in poultry and processed protein products.

The venture also plans to onboard local entrepreneurs to manage stores at the city level, combining supply chain strength with on-ground retail execution to scale operations efficiently.

The move marks a significant push to formalise India’s fresh protein retail segment, leveraging technology, supply chain integration, and a franchise-led model to drive growth in the coming years.
