NEW DELHI: In a major breakthrough for Indian industrial design, Gurugram-based designer Anand Asinkar has led Kohler India to the coveted Red Dot: Best of the Best award — one of the highest honours in global product design.

Asinkar, Design Director at Kohler India, received the award in Essen, Germany, on Tuesday for the PureWash M350, an elegantly designed bidet seat that impressed an international jury of design experts.

In its citation, the jury likened the seat's operation to "the precision of mechanical clockwork" — a testament to its flawless engineering, seamless performance and thoughtful design.  

The Red Dot Design Award evaluates newly developed products from around the world, with entries assessed solely by an independent panel. While hundreds of designs are recognised each year, only a select few receive the coveted 'Best of the Best' distinction for groundbreaking innovation and exceptional design quality.

With this latest triumph, Asinkar has now guided his team to 15 Red Dot awards, including the prestigious Best of the Best honour — fulfilling a dream he first spoke of after winning his maiden Red Dot award in 2022.

Founded in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is regarded as one of the world's most prestigious accolades for excellence in design. The iconic Red Dot label is recognised globally as a hallmark of outstanding design quality.  

The awards are presented annually across three categories: Red Dot Award: Product Design; Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design; Red Dot Award: Design Concept
