BSNL gains 4,200 government mobile connections in Uttar Pradesh

NEW DELHI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is set to strengthen its enterprise subscriber base after the Uttar Pradesh government reportedly directed the transfer of around 4,200 Closed User Group (CUG) mobile connections from Vodafone Idea to the state-owned telecom operator.

The move is expected to enhance BSNL's presence in the government and enterprise mobility segment while supporting its efforts to expand its subscriber base. CUG connections are widely used by government departments and employees for official communication through dedicated mobile networks.

The transfer reflects the growing focus on leveraging public sector telecom infrastructure for government communications and could provide a boost to BSNL's enterprise business in one of India's largest states.
