Flipkart creates over 2.5 lakh jobs ahead of festive season

NEW DELHI: E-commerce major Flipkart has announced the creation of more than 2.5 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across India ahead of the upcoming festive shopping season, as the company prepares for a surge in consumer demand.

Around 75,000 of these opportunities are expected to be for first-time entrants to the workforce, while nearly 60 per cent, or about 1.4 lakh positions, will be in last-mile delivery. The hiring drive will support operations across fulfilment centres, sortation hubs and delivery networks.

The expansion covers more than 7,000 Ekart facilities across the country. Flipkart is also strengthening its delivery network with additional festive-season hubs, with a focus on improving fulfilment and last-mile connectivity, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

The company said the festive-season expansion is aimed at supporting higher order volumes while creating employment opportunities across the supply-chain ecosystem. Women currently account for more than 20 per cent of Flipkart's supply-chain workforce, according to the company.
