Reliance Consumer Products acquires Southern Health Foods, adds ‘Manna’ to health foods portfolio
NEW DELHI: Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has acquired Tamil Nadu-based Southern Health Foods Private Limited, bringing its flagship brand Manna into RCPL’s growing foods and staples portfolio and strengthening its presence in India’s expanding health foods segment.
The acquisition is expected to enhance RCPL’s offerings in millet-based and nutritious packaged foods, complementing existing brands such as Udhaiyam, Independence and SiL. The move aligns with the company’s strategy of delivering global-quality products at affordable prices while expanding its footprint in health-focused food categories.
T. Krishnakumar, Director at Reliance Consumer Products Limited, said Manna is a trusted name in southern India’s health foods market, known for millet staples, health mixes, drinks and baby food products. He added that RCPL plans to leverage its nationwide distribution, research and development and supply chain capabilities to expand the brand’s presence across India.
Southern Health Foods is a key player in packaged healthy foods including millets, oats, multigrain products, breakfast cereals, dry fruits and health mixes. Its flagship brand Manna has built strong consumer recognition in categories such as millet flour, baby foods and multigrain drink mixes.
Industry observers say the acquisition reflects the rising demand for nutritious, millet-based and functional foods in India, as FMCG companies continue to invest in health-centric product portfolios.
