Express Analytics says predictive processes can boost average user revenue in telecom sector

MUMBAI: The American multinational Express Analytics said that it provides tailor-made solutions to telecom service providers to retain their customer base and boost average revenue per user (ARPU) by deploying artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive modeling processes, according to a media report.

"Customer churn is never a good thing for any business, and it holds true for the telecom industry that includes wireless, landline and Internet services. Our solutions for this industry focus precisely on prevention of subscriber churn," Express Analytics Founder and CEO  Hemant Warudkar was quoted as saying.

Indian telecom market is the second-largest in terms of customers which, according to the latest data, has surpassed 1.20 billion.

Warudkar added that in order to ensure customer churn prevention, the company implements a few processes for companies to be able to drive better results.

The company also said that it offers marketing services to telcos that are rolling out data-based products and services, especially in India's semi-urban areas including tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

"We also monitor and track drops offs, be it from the app, website or other forms of communications in order to re-engage them customers with artificial intelligence and predictive modeling. The intelligence is used to throw up recommendations in line with a customers likes and dislikes, ending in an increased rate of customer satisfaction which eventually leads to a higher ratio of customer retention," Warudkar told the publication.

In 2011, India's telecom regulator launched a mobile number portability (MNP) system that permits the subscribers to change their service operator without changing the 10-digit mobile number.

The telecom watchdog data suggest that as many as 670 million mobile customers in India had sought to change in their service provider.

The data analytics company's executive further said that unlike some of their western counterparts, the Indian telecom sector, grappling with rapidly falling average revenue per user (ARPU), needs personalised solutions, and company is geared to not only check the revenue decline but also boosts user revenue.

Earlier, Express Analytics has also partnered with Mavcomm Advisory, headed by Siddhartha Upadhyay and led by former Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) chairman Anupam Shrivastava, to expand its business in he Indian market particularly in the public sector.

The company is banking heavily on big data mining and artificial intelligence as well as accelerated digital transformation of public sector firms following the contagious Covid-19 outbreak-induced shutdowns worldwide.
