MediaTek T930 enhances FWA broadband with 5G-Advanced R18 modem and AI technologies

NEW DELHI: MediaTek today announced the launch of its T930 chipset for 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and mobile Wi-Fi (Mi-Fi) devices. As MediaTek’s third-generation FWA platform, the T930 reinforces the company’s leadership in delivering the most advanced wireless communication technologies and solutions available today.
Built on a highly integrated and power-efficient 4nm process, the MediaTek T930 supports sub-6GHz frequency bands and can achieve 5G connection speeds of up to 10Gbps.
The T930 incorporates several world-first technical innovations, including:
-
6CC-CA downlink and 5-layer 3Tx uplink, enabling uplink speeds of up to 2.8Gbps
-
8Rx support with 200MHz downlink bandwidth, improving spectrum efficiency by 40% at the cell edge and extending signal coverage by up to 40%
-
Compliance with the 3GPP Release-18 standard, including advanced modem features like 3Tx and L4S (Low Latency Low Loss Scalable throughput), pioneered by MediaTek
At the core of the T930 is MediaTek’s new M90 5G modem, integrated with a quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 CPU and a dedicated network processor, delivering seamless 5G-to-Wi-Fi/Ethernet throughput. The platform also includes an RF transceiver, GNSS receiver, and power management system.
Notably, the T930 can be paired with a dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) to power Generative AI gateway devices, enabling advanced Edge AI processing and intelligent device interactions across the network. MediaTek has showcased its award-winning Edge AI technology at recent tradeshows and continues to collaborate with global partners to accelerate development.
“The growth of 5G mobile data is being driven by diverse application services, while the rise of AI enables personalized, on-device experiences,” said JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President of MediaTek. “We believe the T930 will be a reliable and powerful foundation for the next generation of AI-powered, low-latency, always-connected devices and services.”
MediaTek is already working closely with leading global customers and ecosystem partners to integrate the T930 into next-generation FWA and Mi-Fi products worldwide.
