NVIDIA, MediaTek deepen partnership to build AI edge-to-cloud computing platforms
NEW DELHI: NVIDIA and MediaTek have expanded their long-standing partnership to develop next-generation AI computing platforms spanning AI infrastructure, local AI computing and automotive applications. The companies announced the expanded collaboration on August 31, 2026.
As part of the partnership, MediaTek will adopt NVIDIA’s NVLink Fusion platform, providing hyperscalers, cloud service providers and AI developers with a prevalidated pathway to develop custom AI accelerators, or XPUs, that can connect to NVIDIA’s NVLink-enabled, rack-scale AI systems. The collaboration is expected to simplify development and accelerate deployment of customised AI infrastructure.
NVIDIA has also invested $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek, further strengthening the strategic relationship between the two semiconductor companies.
The expanded partnership will focus on three key areas. In AI infrastructure, MediaTek will work within the NVLink Fusion ecosystem to help customers develop custom AI systems compatible with NVIDIA’s rack-scale architecture. In local AI computing, the companies will continue developing RTX Spark and DGX Spark PC chips that combine NVIDIA GPUs with MediaTek system-on-chip technology.
The companies will also continue collaborating on AI-powered, software-defined vehicles, combining MediaTek’s automotive SoC expertise with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing, AI, graphics and software technologies. MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto platforms already integrate NVIDIA technologies for intelligent vehicle cockpits and can work alongside NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platforms.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said the collaboration aims to bring NVIDIA accelerated computing to new markets, while MediaTek Vice Chairman and CEO Rick Tsai said the investment strengthens cooperation across cloud AI infrastructure, local computing and automotive technologies.
The partnership comes as demand for AI computing continues to expand from large-scale data centres to PCs, enterprise systems and vehicles, strengthening the push toward AI capabilities across the entire computing ecosystem.
