Optiemus unveils next-gen defense drones with advanced tech and Make-in-India push

NEW DELHI: Optiemus Unmanned Systems (OUS), a subsidiary of Optiemus Infracom Limited, has launched four cutting-edge drones tailored for defense, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations. Unveiled at the Milipol India Exhibition 2025, these drones are designed to operate in GNSS-denied and electronic warfare (EW) environments, with high-altitude functionality and extended endurance.

The newly introduced drones include:

  • Marak VT100 – A high-altitude VTOL drone with 30x EOIR camera, 3-hour endurance, and up to 50+ km extended range.

  • Vajra QC55 – A multi-rotor drone with real-time imaging, AI analytics, 80+ minutes flight time, and EOIR capabilities.

  • Canister Launched Loitering Munition – A high-speed attack drone with AI tracking, 30 km range, and beyond-line-of-sight targeting.

  • FPV drones with OFC navigation – Immune to electronic warfare, these drones offer flexible payload capacities and are ideal for kamikaze and surveillance missions.

All drones can be equipped with optical fiber cable (OFC) navigation, enhancing resilience against electronic interference.

Further strengthening its commitment to the Make in India initiative, OUS has partnered with Taiwan-based Avix Technology to co-develop and manufacture high-performance camera systems, gimbals, and drone components domestically. This collaboration aims to build a robust local defense manufacturing ecosystem.

Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairman of Optiemus Group, emphasized that these innovations align with India’s defense modernization goals. “We’re delivering high-performance, indigenously developed aerial systems for strategic and tactical applications,” he said.

Avix CEO Cooper Chang echoed the sentiment, stating, “Together, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable, innovation-driven drone manufacturing hub in India.”

OUS is also collaborating with multiple Indian component suppliers, reinforcing the growth of a local defense tech ecosystem.
