NEW DELHI: Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region killed at least nine people and injured more than a dozen others on Tuesday, marking the sixth consecutive day of strikes on Ukraine’s capital, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Eight people were killed in Kyiv, including three children, while five others were wounded. In Boryspil, in the wider Kyiv region, one person was killed and nine were injured, including a child, after missiles and drones struck residential and commercial buildings. Fires were reported at several locations across the capital.

The latest barrage comes after several days of sustained Russian attacks that have disrupted daily life in Kyiv and put further pressure on Ukraine's air-defence systems. Russia and Ukraine have continued to exchange attacks as diplomatic efforts to end the war remain ongoing.

The strikes come amid continuing diplomatic engagement between Kyiv and Washington. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been holding discussions with US officials as efforts continue to find a path toward ending the conflict.
