The Indian Garage Co. opens 21st store in Guntur, expands focus on tier-2 markets

NEW DELHI: Homegrown fashion brand The Indian Garage Co. (TIGC) has opened its 21st store in India in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, marking another milestone in its rapidly expanding offline retail network.

The new outlet is the brand's second store in Andhra Pradesh and strengthens its presence beyond India's major metropolitan markets. The launch comes shortly after TIGC opened its 20th store at Phoenix Palassio Mall in Lucknow.

Founded by Anant Tanted in 2012, The Indian Garage Co. has evolved from a digitally led direct-to-consumer fashion business into an omnichannel brand with an expanding physical retail footprint. Its portfolio includes TIGC's menswear offering, FreeHand in womenswear and Hardsoda in the men's plus-size segment, under the TMRW House of Brands ecosystem.

The company entered organised offline retail in 2024 with its first exclusive brand outlet on Bengaluru's Brigade Road. It has since accelerated store expansion across cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai and Lucknow, with a long-term ambition of reaching 100 stores across India.

The Guntur launch highlights TIGC's growing focus on tier-2 cities, where rising disposable incomes, increasing fashion awareness and demand for organised retail are creating new opportunities for contemporary fashion brands.

The company has previously identified tier-2 and tier-3 markets as important areas for its offline expansion, aiming to make its fashion offerings accessible to consumers beyond the country's largest urban centres.

The latest store opening also underlines TIGC's broader omnichannel strategy, combining its digital presence with physical stores to offer consumers a more integrated shopping experience.

With its retail network now reaching 21 stores, The Indian Garage Co. is positioning itself for a wider pan-India expansion while betting on the continued growth of organised fashion retail in emerging Indian markets.
