Tech Mahindra partners with NVIDIA to roll out education-focused LLM under Project Indus

NEW DELHI: In a major push to strengthen India’s sovereign AI ecosystem, Tech Mahindra has joined hands with NVIDIA to launch an education-focused large language model (LLM) as part of Project Indus, aimed at transforming digital learning across the country. The initiative is designed to deliver advanced, AI-powered learning tools in multiple Indian languages, enabling inclusive and scalable access to high-quality education.

The LLM will be built using NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI software stack, allowing the platform to support curriculum-aligned content, personalised learning pathways, and intelligent tutoring systems. The collaboration seeks to bridge linguistic and digital divides by offering region-specific educational resources while aligning with India’s broader vision of developing indigenous AI capabilities.

Project Indus is positioned as a strategic step toward creating a homegrown AI foundation model ecosystem, with a strong focus on academic institutions, skilling programmes, and research. The partners said the platform will also support teachers with content generation, assessment tools, and classroom analytics, improving learning outcomes at scale.

The move comes amid growing investments in AI infrastructure and reflects India’s push to deploy trusted, locally relevant AI solutions for critical sectors such as education, governance, and public services.
