WOG Technologies unveils India’s engine for water and energy innovation

NEW DELHI: WOG Technologies inaugurated a 7,000 sq ft Research, Development & Technology Centre (RD&TC) in Gurugram aimed at developing and commercialising advanced water, wastewater and renewable energy technologies for industrial and municipal applications.

The state-of-the-art facility, located in Udyog Vihar, has been designed to accelerate the transition of laboratory innovations into scalable industrial solutions. The centre houses advanced wet, bio, dry and chromatography laboratories along with a modular pilot effluent treatment plant, enabling real-time testing and deployment of sustainable technologies.

The company stated that the RD&TC would focus on making advanced environmental and sustainability solutions affordable and accessible for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly in sectors facing increasing regulatory pressure over wastewater management and environmental compliance.

During the inauguration event, branded WOG Innovate 2026, the company unveiled several proprietary technologies developed to address industrial water treatment and energy recovery challenges. Among the key innovations showcased was a patented High-Efficiency UASB reactor designed to convert industrial wastewater into biogas, helping industries reduce waste while generating renewable energy.

Other technologies introduced included an advanced halogen and iron removal system for recovering hydrochloric acid from industrial waste streams, as well as a self-cleaning evaporator aimed at improving treatment efficiency for high-TDS wastewater. The centre is also developing AI-powered water quality prediction systems that combine machine learning with real-time sensor analytics for predictive environmental management.

The RD&TC will further conduct research in emerging areas such as PFAS “forever chemicals,” sludge-to-green-hydrogen conversion pathways, compressed biogas enhancement, biomass torrefaction, and advanced oxidation processes for industrial pollutants.

Speaking at the inauguration, V K Chaurasia, Joint Advisor at the Central Public Health & Environmental Engineering Organisation under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, highlighted the growing importance of sustainable urban infrastructure and innovation-driven environmental management for India’s future growth.

Sunil Rajan, Chief Executive Officer of WOG Technologies, described the new centre as a major step toward strengthening indigenous environmental technologies in India.“From this Centre, India will not just adopt the world’s sustainability technologies; it will create them,” he said.

The launch comes at a time when Indian industries are facing increasing pressure to improve wastewater treatment standards and comply with stricter environmental regulations, including Zero Liquid Discharge mandates. According to the company, India currently treats only around 37 per cent of its wastewater, underlining the urgent need for scalable and cost-effective treatment technologies.
