Flipkart Minutes sees 3X surge in Raksha Bandhan orders as Gen Z drives festive shopping
NEW DELHI: Flipkart’s quick-commerce platform Flipkart Minutes recorded a threefold increase in festive shopping during Raksha Bandhan 2026, with Gen Z consumers accounting for more than 40% of shoppers on the platform, according to company data.
Rakhi emerged as the fastest-growing category, with orders rising 20 times, while fashion maang tikka sales increased fourfold during the festive period. Precious earrings, gold and silver coins and bars, and pooja thali sets were among other popular purchases.
The demand was spread across both metropolitan and non-metro markets, including Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Kolkata, as well as Aurangabad, Madurai and Nawada. Flipkart Minutes said its dedicated Rakhi Store sold more than 2,000 rakhis per minute, highlighting the scale of last-minute festive shopping.
Electronics also featured prominently among gifting choices, with mobile phones, true wireless earbuds, gold coin bars and smartwatches among the leading categories. Shopping activity reportedly peaked between 4 pm and 10 pm, reflecting the growing preference for quick commerce for time-sensitive festive purchases.
The latest trend underscores the growing role of quick-commerce platforms in India's festive retail ecosystem, particularly among younger, digital-first consumers seeking convenience and rapid delivery.
