Reliance Consumer products enters Ice Cream market with new brand Bombay Creamery
NEW DELHI: Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has announced its strategic entry into India’s ice cream market with the launch of Bombay Creamery, positioning the new brand as an accessible premium dairy ice cream offering.
The launch marks RCPL’s dedicated foray into the country’s growing ice cream category and is backed by the company’s national distribution infrastructure, retail scale and consumer insights. The company said the new brand reflects its long-term commitment to the category, with a focus on authentic dairy ingredients and consistent product quality.
Bombay Creamery is being introduced under RCPL’s brand promise of “Global Quality at Affordable Price”. The company said its ice creams are made with real dairy cream, with an emphasis on delivering an authentic ice cream experience to consumers.
Range across multiple formats
The Bombay Creamery portfolio will comprise a range of real ice creams available across popular formats, including cones, cups, tubs, bars and sticks. Prices will start at ?10, making the products accessible to a broad consumer base.
The brand will initially be available across Western India, with RCPL planning a pan-India rollout in the coming period.
RCPL targets growing ice cream category
Commenting on the launch, T Krishnakumar, Director, Reliance Consumer Products Limited, said the brand was built around the idea that dairy products should not require shortcuts.
“RCPL is not just entering the ice cream category — we're committing to it. Made with real dairy cream, Bombay Creamery guarantees the promise of genuine taste of a real ice cream every single time, at a price every Indian family can afford,” Krishnakumar said.
With its combination of real dairy cream, multiple product formats and affordable pricing, Bombay Creamery is aimed at establishing a strong presence across different segments of the ice cream market. The company’s nationwide distribution network and retail scale are expected to support the brand’s expansion beyond its initial Western India launch.
The launch adds another category to RCPL’s expanding FMCG portfolio and represents the company’s latest move to leverage its distribution and retail capabilities to build brands in high-volume consumer markets.
