Tech Mahindra, Telefónica Germany partner on private cloud platform
NEW DELHI: Tech Mahindra has announced the expansion of its partnership with Telefónica Germany to develop a next-generation private cloud platform aimed at accelerating cloud-native transformation and enabling Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) capabilities for future enterprise and telecom growth.
Under the multi-year engagement, the two companies will work together to create a scalable, open and future-ready digital infrastructure foundation that supports the modernization of telecom and enterprise workloads. The initiative is designed to lay the groundwork for a full-scale private cloud environment while enhancing operational flexibility, resilience and digital sovereignty.
The partnership combines Tech Mahindra’s expertise in platform engineering and AI-driven operations with Telefónica Germany’s infrastructure modernization strategy. The platform will serve as a blueprint for open digital infrastructure transformation and include key components such as compute, storage, backup, containers, graphics processing units (GPUs), and ransomware protection as a service.
Through the collaboration, Telefónica Germany aims to reduce dependence on proprietary virtualization environments, accelerate telco cloud adoption, and strengthen its business-to-business (B2B) service offerings. The platform will also support cloud-native innovation and AI-led operations while providing greater operational control and long-term infrastructure resilience.
Harshul Asnani, President and Head of Europe Business at Tech Mahindra, said telecommunications providers increasingly require open, scalable and cloud-native infrastructure environments to meet growing digital service demands while improving efficiency. He noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to building a flexible and resilient platform powered by automation, cloud-native technologies and AI-driven operations.
As part of the engagement, Tech Mahindra will deploy AI-powered automation, cloud-native orchestration, infrastructure-as-code frameworks and self-service platform management capabilities to support the platform. The solution is expected to enhance operational efficiency while supporting both traditional and next-generation infrastructure services for telecom and enterprise customers across Germany.
Markus Ruwisch, Head of Infrastructure Platforms & Services at Telefónica Germany, said the collaboration aligns with the company’s strategy to modernize infrastructure through a more open and resilient Platform-as-a-Service architecture. He added that the platform will support future AI-native services, enterprise workloads and evolving B2B requirements while strengthening digital sovereignty and infrastructure resilience.
The agreement further reinforces Tech Mahindra’s position as a strategic transformation and platform engineering partner for telecom operators across Europe, while expanding its presence in cloud transformation, managed services and telecom infrastructure modernization.
