Ericsson showcases 5G, AI and next-generation connectivity at India Mobile Congress 2026

NEW DELHI: Ericsson is showcasing its latest innovations in 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), enterprise connectivity and emerging 6G technologies at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, highlighting how advanced networks can support India's digital transformation.

The company’s showcase brings together next-generation telecom technologies and innovations from six winning startups of the Ericsson Innovation Challenge 2026. The startups are demonstrating solutions addressing real-world challenges across agriculture, healthcare, digital inclusion, advanced manufacturing and environmental sustainability.

Andres Vicente, CEO of Ericsson Southeast Asia, Oceania and India, said India’s digital journey is entering a new phase, with the focus shifting towards building applications and services on the foundation of 5G connectivity. He emphasised the importance of collaboration among innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and industry to translate technological capabilities into practical solutions.

Nitin Bansal, Managing Director of Ericsson India, said the Innovation Challenge reflects the company’s efforts to strengthen India’s 5G ecosystem. He noted that the participating innovators are using 5G and AI to address challenges across multiple sectors.

The six winning startups include Torchit, which is developing assistive technology for people with visual disabilities; Skye Air Mobility, which is working on autonomous drone logistics; and scanO, which uses AI for oral health screening. Other participants include Okulo Aerospace, exploring high-altitude platforms for connectivity; Proxgy, developing AI-enabled solutions for hands-free industrial workflows; and KissanAI, which uses voice and vision AI to provide agricultural assistance to farmers.

Alongside the startup innovations, Ericsson is demonstrating AI-powered network automation, programmable network APIs, differentiated connectivity and mission-critical communication systems. Its exhibits include AI-enabled radio access networks, autonomous network operations, smart glasses powered by AI and 5G, and collaborative robots designed for warehouse environments.

The company is also showcasing technologies related to 6G capabilities for the 2030s, as well as 5G KAVACH, which can support India's indigenous Automatic Train Protection system through reliable, real-time connectivity. Drone-assisted connectivity for public safety, defence and disaster management is another key area of the presentation.

Ericsson’s Make in India showcase highlights the country’s role in telecommunications research, engineering and advanced manufacturing, including the development of next-generation radio equipment, antennas and semiconductor technologies.

The company is also marking 150 years of global innovation and 123 years of partnership with India, highlighting its contribution to the evolution of telecommunications and the country's digital ecosystem.
